Course Summary

Technology Certificate

CEP 810:  Teaching for Understanding with Computers, Fall 2008 with Sue Way:  The goal of this course is to learn to improve teaching through technology use. CEP 810 focuses on effective ways to utilize technology in everyday teaching.  I worked with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
            

CEP 811:  Adapating Innovative Technologies to Education, Spring 2009 with Melissa White:  The focus of this course is to create a Stand Alone Instructional Resource using PowerPoint and the internet to implement in the classroom.  This course also focuses on creating a personal blog and an educational website.

CEP 812:  Applying Educational Technology to Problems of Practice, Spring 2009 with Susan Wright:  This courses focuses on defining and evaluating a technology based solution to educational problems in the classroom.  CEP 812 also emaphasizes creating a "topic of special interest" group project, podcasts, a TechQuest project and a personal technology plan.

Educational Technology (NP) Endorsement

TE 846 (Reading Requirement):  Accommodating Differences in Literacy Learners, Fall 2008 with Laurel Disney:  This course focuses on teaching authentic methods for accommodating the different needs of individual literacy learners.

CEP 800:  Learning in Schools and Other Settings, Fall 2009 with Cary Roseth:  This course focuses on developing technology-based instructional interventions that are based on what and how students learn and know.  This course integrates the pyschology of learning while looking at how technology impacts learning.

CEP 815:  Technology and Leadership, Spring 2010 with Punya Mishra:  The focus of this course is to perform authentic self-assessment and reflection.  The goal is to challenge yourself in technology and come to an understanding of your own beliefs and intentions in order to lead others.

CEP 816:
 
Technology, Teaching, and Learning Across the Curriculum, Fall 2009 with Rand Spiro:
  This course is designed to bring together current understandings of technology and how it can be used for learning across the curriculum.  The focus is to understand how technology can empower current teaching practices and create meaningful learning while also discussing current issues you encounter while teaching with technology.

CEP 820:  Teaching K-12 Students Online, Summer 2009 with Robin Dickinson, Ph.D.:  This course has 2 main goals.  One is to look at ways teachers can expose their students to the world via the web and technology.  The second is how that same web and technology can be use to communicate and collaborate best teaching practices.

Approaches to Educational Research, Summer 2009 with Nick Sheltrown, Ph.D.:
  This course is designed to support your learning about research.  The focus is on understanding research to inform and improve your teaching, and how adopting the mindset of a researcher can benefit your professional growth.

Capstone in Educational Technology

CEP 807:  Proseminar in Educational Technology, Spring 2011 with Dr. Matthew Koehler:  The goal of this final course is to assist in creating an authentic, meaningful showcase of your work and accomplishments through the program.
